This great little book, 101 Things I Learned in Fashion School, Compare Prices, is perfect for the aspiring fashion designer. Not only is it full of design advice I’d love to see about half of the “Project Runway” designers follow (like “There’s a dangerous gray line between fashion and costume”), the book also has tidbits for anyone curious about fashion (such as “Why men and women button on opposite sides.”) It’s all designed in short chapters to make it easy to read and quick to reference.
So here’s my fashion theory as to why I start craving flashy shoes when the temperature starts rising: when it’s too hot to wear big statement necklaces, it’s only natural to move the bling to your feet. Whatever the reason, I love embellished shoes, especially sandals this time of year. I bought an awesome pair of black jeweled patent sandals (Buy Direct) the other day at Nordstrom — the semi-annual sale is going on so they were a deal — to wear to see “Sex and the City 2″ at a late night showing (which, by the way was full of fabulous fashion.) Statement shoes are a great way to add some spunk to your shorts and cropped pants (and they even fit on fat days.)
